IN THE HOUSE: Question To The Minister of Defence

Parliamentary Vote on Iraq Mission

Mr. Randall Garrison (Esquimalt - Saanich - Sooke, NDP): Mr. Speaker, the government promised to end the bombing mission in Iraq, yet it is still continuing. The government said it will come up with a new plan, and again Canadians are still waiting. When the Minister of National Defence was asked a simple question about whether there will be a vote in the House, yesterday he said, "You can't just answer yes or no."

Actually, we think that should be possible, so let me ask this again for the minister. Will the Minister of National Defence confirm that this House will hold a debate and a vote on the government's new mission in Iraq, yes or no?
